The Dragonfly is a monthly underground jazz gathering devoted to presence, improvisation, and deep listening.
Held in an intimate, mixed seated and standing environment at Chez Serendip, the evening is anchored by the Maxwell Goldfield-Brown Quintet and centers around the historic 1902 Steinway piano. The quintet weaves together original compositions, classics, reimagined popular songs, and spontaneous improvisation, creating a living musical conversation that unfolds in real time. This is not a traditional concert—it is a listening room, a salon, and a jazz session where music, story, and audience are in relationship.
Throughout the evening, jazz unfolds across two extended sets with an intermission, allowing space for conversation, reflection, and rest. Storytelling and audience engagement are gently woven into the night, hosted by Alisa Sieber, founder of Chez Serendip, creating moments of connection between musicians and listeners.
